THE DRINKER

Eat - drink - be merry

RESTAURANTS

In the past four or five years I have been eating out more so it seemed a natural progression for the website to include a few reviews.

I am a very forgiving diner and think that I am extremely adaptable, I am as happy eating in the world's finest dining establishments as I am scoffing down a cheap sausage from a van in the market place. What I can't cope with is poor service, poor value and food out of context.

Just like in my wine reviews, some of the best most expensive meals I've had have been some of the best value, simply through innovation, quality and all round dining experience. And sometimes simplicity is best, a mug of tea at the top of a mountain, fish and chips on the beach at Scarborough, a full English in a greasy spoon.

I do tend to gush a bit when it comes to the top restaurants, but I think that with experience I am now able to assess food fairly without letting Michelin Stars cloud my vision.
